2019-2020 Syllabus

 

COURSE GOAL

Students will be able to understand traditional historical points, events, and issues in history; use geographic tools to collect, analyze, and interpret data; understand the factors that affected the economy; understand the structure and functions of government; understand the importance of rights and responsibilities of citizens; understand the concept of diversity in cultures; and apply critical thinking skills to organize and use information acquired from a variety of sources.

 

CLASS RULES

  1. Listen when others are talking.
  2. Follow directions.
  3. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
  4. Work quietly and do not disturb others.
  5. Show respect for school and personal property.
  6. Work and play in a safe manner.

 

CONSEQUENCES

1st        Verbal Warning/E-mail to parents

2nd        Parent/Teacher/Student conference

3rd        Student Discipline Report - Student will be sent to principal’s office and a parent\teacher\ student conference will be scheduled

 

PROCEDURES

At the beginning of class:

  • Stand quietly by your desk and be ready for prayer
  • Prepare notebook, book, and pen/pencil, be ready to work
  • Place completed classwork/homework notebook on your desk

During Class:

  • Bathroom/water – students will be given a restroom pass on a monthly basis.  They will have four passes a month.  If the student needs to go to the restroom because of medical issues, please send a doctor’s note.
  • Students will not be allowed to go to their locker during class.  Please make sure you have all your supplies when you come to class
  • Students will not be getting up from their desks to sharpen pencils, get tissues, or throw away trash while the teacher is giving class
  • Students will raise their hand to ask a question or to answer a question

At the end of class:  2 minutes prior to the bell

  • Pack up your belongings
  • Clean the area around your desk before you leave
  • Teacher will dismiss students by rows

 

 

 

 

ASSIGNMENTS

All work is due when assigned unless there is an emergency.  Parent must send a note and student can make arrangements with the teacher.  Otherwise, points will be deducted for the late assignment. If the student receives M for missing work, he/she can still turn in the assignment and points will be deducted from their assignment.

 

TESTS/QUIZZES

Quizzes will be given once a week depending on the schedule.  Tests will be given once every two weeks depending on the schedule.  No talking, borrowing something, etc., during the quiz or test.  Quiz or test will be picked up.  The student can complete the test after school on that day.  Points will be deducted from their quiz or test.

 

ABSENCES

  • Parental Note required
  • For every day the student is absent, he/she has that amount of days in which to make up the assignments (assignments for absent students may be obtained by viewing my website [email protected]
  • Absent students are still responsible to turn in assignments when they return.
  • If student is going to be absent for a number of days and has prior knowledge of absences, please make sure you speak with the principal and with the teacher to make arrangements.
  • Missed exams and/or quizzes must be made up the next day the student returns to school after school, unless arrangements have been made with the teacher.

 

GRADES

Grades will be posted on RenWeb as regularly as possible.

 


A         100-94

B         93-85

C         84-75

D         74-70

F          Below 69

M        Missing until assignment is turned in


 

**Parents please make sure your current e-mail information is updated with the school office**

 

  • 20%  - Daily Work – Notebook (notebook will be checked on daily basis)
  • 21% - Quizzes
  • 25.7% - Assessments and Projects (Chapter Tests and Projects)
  • 33.3% - End of Quarter Final Exam

 

Progress reports will be available on RenWeb according to the school calendar

 

NO EXTRA CREDIT WORK WILL BE GIVEN
